Ghana have moved a place up on the FIFA ranking table as Kwesi Appiah begins his reign as Black Stars coach.
The Black Stars are now placed 22nd on the overall table released today which showed few changes.
Despite
the leap, Ghana's point accumulation has been hit. From 820 points in
the previous month, the Black Stars now have 816 points.
The
Black Stars, who begin their qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in June
are still Africa’s second best side behind Ivory Coast.
Algeria remain third with Mali leapfrogging new African champions, Zambia to fourth on the continental ranking table.
World champions, Spain still leads the overall standing followed by the Germany and Uruguay taking third position.
Twenty-four
matches were taken into account for the April edition of the
FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, three-quarters of which were played at the
AFC Challenge Cup.
