Black Stars and Olympique Marseille forward Andre Ayew’s January comeback has been further delayed by a couple more weeks due to the severity of the injury, his club’s doctor has revealed.
Though the 2011 BBC Africa Footballer of the Year winner reportedly looks to have made steep progress by being able to walk freely without his crutches in the past week, Marseille’s team doctor Emmanuel Prou has conceded the 24-year-old’s setback rather looked a bit severe than earlier diagnosed and that his recovery from will be a little longer than expected.
His return for Marseille who lie 6th on the French Ligue 1 table was set at end of January – 8 weeks. However, the club doctor, Prou says he will be fully back in mid-February.
Andre Ayew is currently out injured with a knee problem suffered during Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Egypt in the second leg of their World Cup playoff on November 19.
