HOOLIGANISM IN GHANA FOOTBALL

A  lay man will ask, what is hooliganism?Hooliganism refers to an act of noisy or violent in a public places.Eg football hooligans.
The speed at which hooliganism is creeping into our football this days is very serious and rendering thegame more of footwar than a sporting activity. The tragedy that occured at the then Accra Sports Stadium now Ohene Djan in which one hundred and twenty-six 126 lots their lives on May 9th is still fresh in our memory. What are some of the reasons behind this upsurge in hooliganism and what can be done to combat it.
To me as a youth of the 21st century, who is much into football, i see the practise of hooliganism as an act of absence of law and order among football fans during matches.Football fans take the laws into their own hands and some of them being under the influence of alchool and other forms of drugs, hooliganism has become a characteristics of an ordinary day of football.

Another thing which linked to hooliganism is biased officiating.Allegations of bribery and attempted bribery are rife in the nations number sports activity. With corruption on the rise, this is not surprise. But  the tendency of football fans to rightly or wrongly percive officiating officials as twisting the rules to suit the opposing clubs. There are several instances when referees had to flee for their dear liveson suspicion of having accepted bribe from one team.
Also supporters of various teams are unprepared to accept home defeat and that partly accounts for the spate of hooliganism in our football. Some teams are seen moving the heavens and earth just to collect the three maximum points associated to home games,.In crucial situations or matches like the ghana version of the el-classico , footabllers fight to their last breath. Thus, so long as the clubs sees or consider their home matches as three points for the grabbing by hook or crook, hooliganism will continue to be with us.
Again, looking at the reasons of hooliganism one cannot ignore the inadequate facilities at the various playing centers. It is sad to relate a country that has distinguished itself in world football, especially at the juvenile and recently senior level which has being to the worlds biggest football festival, the fifa world cup in germany and south africa, can only boast of  four standard stadia.Talking of good turf, floodlight and seats for the spectators and it is only in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi-Takoradi where you can find these. With spectators watching matches from the touch line and grassless pitches making pebbles available and making the safety of match officials and visiting teams not guaranteed.
My final reason to hooliganism in ghanafootball, is
the aggresiveness of the fans is whipped up by the mass media. There are catchy and sensational  headlines in the print media supplimented by local fm stations with electrifying dicussions and phone-in programmes. When matches are hyped, passions are flamed and hooliganism becomes inevitableconsequence.
MY QUESTION TO THE FOOTBALL FRATANITY OF GHANA IS, HOW CAN WE IRRADICATE HOOLIGANISM IN OUR FOOTBALL.
